15 Super Smart Hacks To Help You Survive Winter

I might be one of the few people who actually enjoys the winter. Cuddling up with a book and watching the snow fall or going on a winter hike are some of my favorite things to do. Not to mention, it’s pretty much the only time I can order a hot chocolate and not get major side-eye from the barista.

Now, don’t get me wrong: there are some things about winter that straight-up suck. When the mountain of snow covering my car is taller than me, I’m ready to throw in the towel in the battle against old man winter.

While we may not be able to control the snowy winter wonderland weather, these hacks will at least make your life a little easier. Just a few simple tricks and tips will help you combat common winter problems like static-y hair, cracked heels, and flimsy boots. Once you get these down, you’ll be able to enjoy the winter and unleash you inner cold climate enthusiast.

DIY Boot Tray

  • Buy a bag of decorative stones and arrange them on a cookie sheet. When wet boots are placed on top, the water will drain between the stones and dry on the bottom of the pan.

Prevent Cracked Heels

  • Winter does a number on your skin. Protect your heels by rubbing Vaseline with cocoa butter on your feet at night. Cover them up with extra-soft socks to seal in the lotion.

Stop Static-y Hair

  • Press a dryer sheet onto your hair brush and run it through your hair. The static is eliminated instantly and your hair will smell freshy-fresh.
