Muhammad Ali Jinnah was said to be the most remarkable man of his time. Throughout his life not even the worst of his enemies were able to point a finger towards him.
Such was his tall character that by the mid-40s an English man, who used to wear western suits, speak in an English accent and live in the most extravagant palaces had won over the hearts of millions of poor Muslims in the subcontinent. Here are some of his main personality traits.
Impeccable Integrity: Throughout his life Jinnah never compromised on his dignity and integrity. Once when a grateful client tried to overpay him not only was he was duly refused but also returned the extra amount
Honesty beyond doubt: Throughout his life Jinnah is never reported to have lied. Even in the last twenty years of his political struggle be it in roundtable conferences or Bombay talks, it was always the Nehruvian congress which backed out of agreements but never the Jinnah led Muslim League.
Unbending will: Despite all the obstacles that Jinnah faced, despite the fact that he himself knew he was dying he never backed out of his quest for the formation of Pakistan. Once he had decided to embark on a quest, he did not stop until he had achieved his goal. Maybe this was what turned him into India’s top lawyer by the age of thirty.
A Graceful Character: Jinnah would always exhibit a mighty character no matter what the circumstances. From wearing the finest dresses to a character which was beyond any doubt, Jinnah would impress every one he met. Lord Wavell once said about him, ‘‘Mr. Jinnah was one of the handsomest men I have ever seen; he combined the clear cut, almost Grecian features of the West with oriental grace and movement’’.
Therefore the founder of Pakistan throughout his life was a hallmark of character. Let’s just hope that one day that the youth of Pakistan can learn something from his character and one day the state of Pakistan too can live up to his expectations.
