Earthquake shakes Islamabad, Peshawar

ISLAMABAD: At least 60 seconds strong earthquake  measuring 5.8 on Richter scale has jolted Afghanistan, Pakistan and India especially Pakistani cities Islamabad, Peshwar, Lahore, Abbottabad  and others on Wednesday late night, ViewStorm.com reported.

According to the initial reports from ViewStorm’s correspondents “Islamabad, Lahore, Abbottabad, Sawat, Malakand division and tribal belt among the areas where earthquake shocks have been reported”.

Reports from Kohat, Gilgit, and FATA areas have also confirmed the quake.

Res alert has been issued in KPK and Federal capital.

According to the USGS reports a M5.6 earthquake 28km South of Jarm, Afghanistan. Epicenter of the quake is Hindu Kush region at Afghan-Tajikistan border.

Many commercial and residential buildings in different cities located in the effected areas evacuated after the shocks.
