France crowned Champions in the 2018 FIFA World Cup Final

France beat Croatia 4-2 to win the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia. This is the second time France has been crowned Champions of Football. The previous win came in 1998 World Cup which was hosted by France itself.
Whereas for Croatia this is their best finish at any FIFA World Cup. Their previous best was finishing at the third position in 2002 FIFA World Cup.

It was a high-scoring affair with dramatic twists and turns. Since 1966, this was the highest scoring final and an entertaining end to a wonderful tournament.

The final had it all; a controversial VAR decision, an own goal, record-breaking feats and an underdog pushing the favorites to its limit.

A Mario Mandzukic’s own goal gave France the lead. Croatia equalized just after 10 minutes with Ivan Perisic’s wonderful long-range strike. However, a penalty strike by Griezemann made it 2-1 in favor of France.

Les Bleus scored two further goals, through Paul Pogba and Kylian Mbappe, to put the former champions in command and Croatia were in tatters.

Hugo Lloris made a dreadful error which allowed Mandzukic to reduce the deficit in the 69th minute. Croatia gave their all and tried to fight back but it was too much to do in the end.

Mbappe, aged 19 years became the second-youngest player to score in a final after Pele, who scored as a 17-year-old in 1958.
