Pakistan 2019 World Cup Squad announced; Wahab, Amir, and Asif Ali in

Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq has announced Pakistan’s World Cup squad for 2019. Three changes have been made; Wahab, Amir, and Asif Ali are in, and Faheem Ashraf, Junaid Khan, and Abid Ali are out.

The inclusion of Asif Ali and Amir was expected. But the surprising selection is of Wahab Riaz considering his poor record in England. And his tendency to leak a lot of runs on his off days.

The good thing is that Asif Ali has been selected. His two fifties in the England series gave a boost to his chances for selection in the 2019 World Cup squad. Plus, Pakistan desperately needed a big-hitter in the line-up.  So it is a welcome inclusion.

Moreover, the selection of Amir was critical to Pakistan’s chances in the 2019 World Cup. He is the sort of bowler who can perform under pressure and control the flow of runs.

The bowling line-up comprising of Hasan Ali, Amir, and Shaheen is a potent one, provided they are in good rhythm and form.
