PIA flight from Lahore to Karachi lands in Muscat

A Pakistan International Airlines flight from Lahore to Karachi was diverted to Muscat on Friday. Flight PK-307 was scheduled to depart from Lahore at 9:00pm Thursday night. However, it took off this morning and landed in Muscat instead of Karachi.

Flight PK307 was scheduled to depart from Lahore Thursday night, but it took off on Friday. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the flight never reached Karachi, ending up at Muscat instead.

‘#PK307 LHE-KHI was diverted to Muscat being the only closest Airport to handle landing of such aircraft type due to operations halt at KHI’ Civil Aviation Authority Pakistan announced in a tweet.

The following map compares the actual route to the original trajectory.

Although PIA’s spokesperson Danyal Gillani told Dawn that the flight was diverted owing to fog, however, CAA disclosed the actual reason through a tweet by suggesting that the flight was diverted due to VVIP movement.

It is relevant to mention that PPP Chairman Asif Ali Zardari is due in Pakistan at 3 P.M and it is believed that the operation at Karachi airport was halted due to his arrival.
