Sure the mullahs would go crazy and to be fair the spanking is a little too immoral but is there anything in the plot which might make fifty shades of grey a super duper hit if allowed to be released in Pakistan! Here are a few similarities that Pakistani couples might find in the story and their everyday lives.
1. The man has control issues
Christian Grey in the story is shown to have extreme control issues. He just can’t let go of the women he has found attractive and if any man even walks past her he takes it as a personal offence and confronts them.
In 50 Shades, when they’re at coffee, Grey places a muffin in front of Ana and says: “Eat it.”
Ana says, “You’re very high handed.”
Grey replies: “I’m used to getting my way.”
Isn’t this the way most Pakistani men behave where a life outside home is still outlandish for most Pakistani wives who are used to having every aspect of their lives controlled.
2. The man has jealousy issues
Christian Grey in fifty shades of grey is portrayed as a possessive insecure sociopath. He’s suspicious of every guy in Ana’s life, whether it’s a platonic friend or an acquaintance.
In one scene, Grey wants to know more about Ana’s friends and this is the exchange:
Grey: “So is he your boyfriend?”
Ana: “Jose? No”
Grey: “I saw the way he was smiling at you.”
Ana: “No, Jose is more like family, he’s not my boyfriend.”
Grey: “And the guy at the store?”
Ana: “Paul? No!”
When Anastasia is out at a bar drinking with some buddies and Christian shows up unexpectedly AGAIN, he ends up shoving her male friend, who she had already friend-zoned anyway. How did he even know that she was at the bar? Only if he was stalking her!
Isn’t this how most Pakistani men behave when they want to control each and every aspect of their wives’ life or maybe each and every second of her life! That certainly is a common feature here.
3. The woman is a ‘good’ girl – inexperienced, fairly smart, but not too threatening
Here is shown a naïve innocent girl who is molded by a billionaire to his own will. Maybe that’s how most Pakistani women are who are forced to follow their husband’s path no matter what their own opinions might be
4. The woman has to adopt the guy’s lifestyle or get lost
In the movie Ana has to live the way that Christian Grey wants her to live. If she refuses Christian eventually finds a way to coax her into it. Isn’t that how most Pakistani women are forced to live by their husbands where refusing to follow a husband’ s path means the end of the relationship.
