Pakistan at the crossroads of history!

Pakistan today stands at the crossroads of history. We are ruled by a corrupt pseudo democracy in which the corrupt get elected and then plunder in billions!

Common Pakistanis hardly have any say in the running of their government and over the period of time too have become corrupted along with the elite; degraded perhaps by their corrupt rulers who prefer to serve the interests of their foreign masters more than those of the very people they swore to serve.

Yet despite all these odds Pakistan is still standing, despite the countless predictions made by global think tanks about Pakistani disintegration by 2015, Pakistan is as strong and vibrant as ever. Despite the predictions of gloom and doom Pakistan is progressing.

At one point we have our present aid, loan and remittances dependent economy and yet at the other we have the potential to become the economic hub of Asia.

At one point we have the present terrorism and crime infested country and yet at the other we have the hope from the present operations being carried out in Karachi and the northern part of the country against Taliban militants.

At one point we have the corruption riddled government machinery and at the other we have the hope from present administrative reforms being carried out in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by PTI government.

At one point we have the helpless election commission unable to prevent fraudulent elections and at the other we have the hope from loud cries of investigating those involved in electoral fraud and carrying out electoral reforms.

At one point we have the compliant masses being trampled under the feet of our corrupt aristocracy and at the other we have hope from a free media and a vibrant youth which desperately calls for a change in the country.

At one point we have the feudal dominated parliament yet at the other we have MNA’s like Murad Saeed elected on the basis of their party’s ideology.

At one point we are an isolated nation with hardly any international travelers yet at the other we have the potential to become the hub of global economic trade with the new recently planned China Pakistan economic corridor.

At one point we have an isolated economy which hardly receives any foreign investment and at the other we have just managed to receive almost $50 billion in investment from China.

Surely with all these opposites we can’t be heading for a gloomy future. Surely there is much more to Pakistan than what we have at present. And surely the future will bring a much more rosy country than what we have at present. Surely there is hope folks, there is hope!
